The Chocolate Chip Cookie

Hang on to your nostalgia kids... this OG favorite is, by far, the best of the best. Soft and chewy... you won't be able to eat just one.

Yields 10-12 cookies | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 11 minutes

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 cup white granulated sugar 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup salted butter 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Microwave butter until just barely beginning to melt, almost liquid form. 3. With an electric mixer, beat butter and sugars together until creamy. Add vanilla and unsweetened apple sauce and mix well until combined. 4. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda and salt together. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until crumbles begin to form. 5. Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula. Roll the dough into 12 balls and evenly space them out on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.

6. Bake for 11 minutes until the cookies are puffy and golden brown. It is important not to over bake or else they won't stay soft and chewy.

Note: Use dairy-free chocolate chips and plant-based butter or margarine for a completely vegan bite!
